ASA girls shine at Empower Cyber event

Posted: 20th November 2023

On Friday 17th November 2023, I had the privilege of accompanying 22 remarkable girls to the annual Empower Cyber event. The girls displayed extraordinary prowess, representing our school at the highest levels. Engaging in an array of cyber-infused challenges like Hack the Box, Cryptic Clues, VR/Robotic challenges and Open the Vault. They showcased their mastery of computational thinking, teamwork, and unyielding determination. Their exceptional performance positioned them within the top three among all participating schools, a testament to their adeptness in successfully completing complex tasks.

Recognising their accomplishments, the event organisers, CyNam, CyberFirst and a host of ambassadors personally commended the girls and were extremely complimentary of their behaviour and engagement throughout the day. Two of our amazing support staff Miss Jones and Miss Hill supported me at this event and played pivotal roles in facilitating the girls’ success, offering guidance and encouragement throughout the event. Their dedication and mentorship contributed significantly to the girls’ exceptional performance, fostering an environment where these young minds flourished.

As a teacher, witnessing the girls’ triumphs fills me with immense pride and makes me so proud to be part of All Saints’ Academy. Their outstanding achievements emphasise the vital significance of empowering young women for careers in cybersecurity. This event exemplifies the dedication and competence these girls possess, showcasing their potential and paving the way for a future where women and girls excel in the dynamic field of cybersecurity.
