The Sponsor

All Saint’s Academy is a Church of England School sponsored by the Diocese of Gloucester.

The Diocese of Gloucester is the Church of England in and around Gloucestershire. It covers the whole of Gloucestershire and parts of neighbouring counties. We have 400 churches, 327 parishes and 116 church schools.

The Bishop of Gloucester is The Rt Revd Rachel Treweek. Bishop Rachel says, “All Saints Academy is at the heart of serving our communities in Cheltenham, providing first class education and facilities for students, with a Christian ethos that enables them to flourish and live ‘life in all its fullness’. We are incredibly proud to sponsor this excellent Academy where young people are supported to discover their God-given potential.”

Bishop Rachel shares her ministry with The Rt Revd Robert Springett, the Bishop of Tewkesbury who chairs the Diocesan Board of Education. Bishop Robert says, “We are immensely proud of All Saints’ Academy, our only secondary school within our family of 116 Church of England Schools across the Diocese. It is a place of welcome and inclusion in which young people can grow and flourish academically, socially and spiritually.”

As sponsor, the Diocese appoints the majority of the directors/governors of the Academy who oversee its strategic direction and monitor its performance. The Diocesan Director of Education, Canon Rachel Howie leads the Education Department supporting the life of our schools. Canon Rachel says, “As the sponsor, the Diocesan Board of Education has a particularly close relationship with the Academy in the oversight of its work and its Christian ethos. The Board is delighted to hold this important responsibility and is proud of the work the Academy does serving the local community.”
