On Tuesday 11th October we were visited by Year 6 pupils from Swindon Village Primary School and St Thomas More Catholic Primary School for a morning of activities. The aim was to provide the pupils with some fun learning experiences in Drama, History and Languages, to begin to prepare pupils for the move to secondary school and extend their learning through new experiences.
It was a great morning! Pupils really enjoyed learning a new language and were really enthusiastic about telling their families when they got home. The drama session was a celebration of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday. Pupils loved making up characters and showcasing these to the rest of the group. The drama studio was constantly brewing with excitement from the pupils. In History they looked at Tudor methods of solving crime (torture and whether it is a good idea) and compared it to modern day. This provoked a lot thought in the students and discussions continued outside the classroom.
An enjoyable morning was had by all and we look forward to welcoming these pupils next September.
