Mobile Phones and Smart Watches
At All Saints’ Academy, we want to support our students to achieve their very best and become good citizens in the community. We know that being present with their teachers and other students alongside fully focused learning will deliver this.
Students having phones causes two significant challenges:
1. Phones disrupt focus, preventing effective learning. Even having them in pockets means students are less likely to be able to give their whole attention to learning new material.
2. Messages shared through phones are often unkind and can cause significant upset for young people.
Research tells us that schools that have prohibited the use of mobile phones are seeing a significant rise in outcomes, improved mental health and social interaction skills.
Phones are handed to tutors at the start of the day and locked away securely until afternoon registration.
