Careers

On Thursday 16th April, Year 7 participated in their careers drop-down morning. It was themed around understanding that careers are a journey with many twists and turns, rather than a linear path. Students heard from speakers who shared their own unique career journeys, the challenges they faced and the skills they’ve developed throughout their careers. Their honesty and insight gave students a real understanding that there is no single path to success. Following this, students took part in a workshop to reflect on themselves and how this might impact the decisions they make about their future options.

Finally, students had classroom talks from a range of professionals from different organisations. Visitors commented on how engaged students were and the excellent questions they asked!  These conversations helped our students to see the breadth of opportunities available to them and highlighted the importance of resilience, adaptability and lifelong learning.

Year 8 will have their careers morning on the 7th May, which will focus on exploring their unique skills and talents, as well as the skills needed to navigate careers, including the importance of digital skills for future jobs.

Chaplaincy

We are currently in Eastertide — the season between Easter Monday and the Ascension. This is a time of hope, renewal, and reflection. In this in-between time, we are reminded that resurrection is not just a moment, but a way of living — one that calls us to carry hope, kindness, and faith into our everyday lives.

This week, we were delighted to celebrate our annual Bishops’ Awards with over 500 students at Tewkesbury Abbey. With Bishop Robert presiding, it was a truly special occasion, recognising those who have embodied our All Saints Way through their actions and character. Congratulations to all who received an award — your example is an inspiration to our whole community.

This week also marked Earth Day. As the weather grows warmer and the evenings stretch longer, we are given a wonderful opportunity to notice the beauty of the world around us. In the Bible, we are reminded: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1), and again, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Creation itself is a gift — something to appreciate, care for, and protect.

I want to encourage you to take time this season to pause and notice: the colours of the sky, the sound of birdsong, the new life emerging all around us. These small moments can draw us closer to God and remind us of His presence in the world.

As it says in Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities… have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.”

Join me in noticing the beauty of creation.

Blessings

Matt
