Year 9 Trip Reminder – University of Gloucestershire (Oxstalls Campus) – Wednesday 16th July

This is a reminder that the Year 9 trip to the University of Gloucestershire (Oxstalls Campus) will take place on Wednesday 16th July, during normal school hours.

Students will take part in interactive workshops led by university staff and current students, exploring the benefits of higher education and why it might be a valuable option for their future. They will also enjoy a guided tour of the campus to help them get a feel for university life.

Important Information:

  • Students must wear their full school uniform.
  • They should bring their own lunch and a drink.
  • If your child is eligible for free school meals, a packed lunch can be provided by the Academy. Please indicate this on the Microsoft Form sent out with the original trip letter.
  • While the trip is open to all Year 9 students, behaviour and conduct will be taken into account when finalising places.

Year 10 Work Experience & Careers Activities – Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th July

Over 70 Year 10 students will be out on work experience placements on 9th and 10th July.

Each student must log into their Unifrog account and check the ‘Placements’ section for full details, including:

  • Placement location and contact person
  • Required clothing
  • Any other important instructions

Most students will need to bring their own lunch. Please ensure they review this information a few days in advance to be fully prepared.

If there are any issues, please contact Mrs Farrow at nfarrow@asachelt.org, or students can speak to her directly in school.

For those not attending a placement, there will be a programme of careers talks (including sessions with former students) and workshops delivered by Young Gloucestershire.

Chaplaincy

This week, our spiritual focus has been on Courageous Advocacy — standing up for what is right, even when it’s difficult. Rooted in our core values of justice and peace, we’ve taken time to reflect on how we can each be a voice for inclusion in our school and wider community.

Through discussions, assemblies, and quiet reflection, we’ve explored what it means to ensure that everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Whether challenging unfairness, speaking up for others, or simply offering support, we are reminded that small acts of courage can make a big difference.
