Sixth Form Students Excel in Bar Mock Trial

Posted: 26th November 2024

On Saturday 23rd November, the All Saints’ Academy Law team competed in the University of Law Birmingham heat for the Young Citizens Bar Mock Trial competition. The team demonstrated exceptional preparation and performance in their criminal mock trials of R v Hinton, a case involving Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, and R v Speed, a case centered on Drug Possession.

The ASA team excelled across all aspects of the competition: witnesses navigated rigorous cross-examinations with confidence, barristers delivered compelling opening and closing arguments, and ushers and clerks managed courtroom administration with precision. Jury members engaged in thoughtful deliberations, arriving at well-reasoned verdicts. Over the course of the competition day, the team achieved victories in two out of three trials—a testament to their skill and determination.

Although they did not leave with a trophy, we are extremely proud of the team’s achievements and look forward to entering the competition again next year, building on this year’s success and experience.
