All Saints’ Academy takes strides towards environmental sustainability with new water refilling stations

David Hall, the UK Managing Director of Brita, emphasised the urgency of addressing the issue of plastic pollution, stating, “Plastic bottled water takes about five seconds to make, five minutes to use, and a staggering 500 years to break down in landfill. It’s one of the main culprits of the worldwide plastic pollution crisis.”

We are proud to announce a significant expansion to our eco-friendly initiatives with the recent installation of state-of-the-art water bottle refilling stations. To date, through this initiative, we have already prevented the use of 15,000 plastic bottles, marking a substantial step towards environmental conservation and the reduction of plastic waste.

Starting this November, we will stop selling plastic water bottles, showing our commitment to environmental preservation. This supports the Academy’s goal of providing a sustainable and eco-conscious learning environment for students.

All Saints’ Academy proudly holds the title of an Eco-School with Green Flag status, highlighting our ongoing dedication to environmentally friendly practices.

MIW Water Cooler Experts did a fantastic job installing water coolers over the summer, in preparation for the start of the school year in September 2023.

“In embracing new water bottle refilling stations, we’ve taken a significant stride in our commitment to environmental stewardship. In just one month we have spared the environment from 15,000 plastic bottles, demonstrating our commitment to reducing plastic waste. Since the start of term, we have phased out the sale of plastic drink bottles and by November, we’re furthering our pledge and stopping the sale of plastic water bottles. This supports our mission of a green, eco-friendly learning environment for our students. We hope that our actions positively influence the choices that our students and families all make beyond the Academy too.” Liam Wilkinson, Interim Principal
