Work Experience Success!

On the 9th and 10th of July, 100 Year 10 students took part in work experience placements. Those who remained in school developed their leadership skills by supporting the delivery of our Year 5 Taster Day, listening to inspirational career stories from former students, exploring the wide range of careers in the NHS, and participating in a team-building workshop delivered by Young Gloucestershire.

From nurseries, to graphic design studios, law firms, GP surgeries, and everything in between, students on placement got a real taste of working life. They also had the opportunity to build valuable skills and boost their confidence in preparation for the future.

We’ve received glowing feedback from the employers who hosted our students. One student even secured a summer job thanks to her outstanding performance, while another was described as “the best work experience student we’ve ever had.”

All students should be incredibly proud of what they achieved, and we’re excited to offer this experience again to our incoming Year 10 cohort next year.

Sports Day

Our entire school community came together for a fantastic Sports Day, filled with energy, competition, and a strong sense of camaraderie. From start to finish, the day reflected the enthusiasm and spirit of our students, staff and supporters.

This year’s event was particularly special as we introduced several new activities to the programme for the first time. Tug of War, Frisbee, Dodgeball, and American Football were all added alongside our traditional track and field events, giving students even more opportunities to get involved and showcase their talents.

The new additions brought a fresh sense of fun to the day, and were met with great excitement. Meanwhile, the classic events – sprints, relays, long jump, shot put and more – delivered all the drama and determination we’ve come to expect.

Congratulations to Canterbury House, who emerged as the overall winners after a strong showing across the board. It was a competitive day, and every house gave a tremendous effort.

A big well done to everyone who took part, whether competing, supporting their house, or helping to run the day. The sense of teamwork and good sportsmanship on display was something to be proud of.

54-Day Attendance Streak

Students from Years 7 to 10 have smashed their 54-day attendance streak, and their commitment didn’t go unnoticed! To celebrate this fantastic achievement, they were rewarded with a 75-foot inflatable obstacle course — and it was an unforgettable day of fun, energy, and well-earned celebration.

This streak is more than just a number — it’s a reflection of the incredible dedication our students have shown throughout the term. Consistent attendance helps build strong routines, friendships, and success in learning, and our students have proven they’re up for the challenge!

But we’re not stopping there…

Next Term: A 32-Day Attendance Streak is Coming!

Next term’s challenge is a 32-day attendance streak, and the rewards are going to be even bigger, better, and more exciting than ever before.

From thrilling activities to exclusive surprises, there’s never been a better time to show up, stay in, and aim high. Be in, to win!

Let’s keep the momentum going. A new academic year means new challenges and even more attendance rewards — and you won’t want to miss out.

Chaplaincy News – Summer Term Update

As we wrap up another school year, it’s been a joy to reflect on all the meaningful moments and exciting developments within our chaplaincy community.
This term, we launched the ASA Storytellers in partnership with Springbank Primary School. It’s been wonderful to see pupils engaging with Bible stories through creative storytelling, helping to bring faith to life in a fun and accessible way.
Our Chaplaincy After School Club celebrated the end of term with a special Year 11 Leavers Trip, giving our students a chance to relax, reflect, and mark this important milestone together.
We also ran an Alpha course, which has seen 11 students journey together over the past 7 weeks, exploring questions of life, faith, and meaning. It’s been a powerful time of discussion, discovery, and friendship.
Exciting News
Looking ahead, I’m delighted to share that I’ll be starting Ordination Training in September! This is a big next step, and I’m so thankful for the support of our school community. I’ll still be around as your chaplain, though I’ll be out one day a week for training.
Prayer Points
As we enter the summer break, please join us in prayer for:
  • Rest and recuperation for staff and students after a busy year
  • New starters in September, that they would settle in well and feel welcomed
  • Our Chaplaincy Team to grow, so we can continue to support and serve our school community more fully
Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. Wishing you all a peaceful and refreshing summer!
With blessings,
Matt
