Year 12 student Fariha recently took part in Andrew Jobbing’s Senior Kangaroo challenge as a follow-up round from her completion of the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge, in which she gained a Gold Award.
The UK Mathematical Trust (UKMT) consists of a series of multiple-choice mathematical questions which are designed to help encourage students and young people to develop and stretch their ability beyond the curriculum, improving their problem-solving and logical thinking beyond regular lessons.
Drawing on her A-Level Mathematics studies, Fariha was able to prepare thoroughly for the challenge. Reflecting on her experience, she said: “The questions were definitely difficult; however, I love taking on challenges, so I found the overall experience enjoyable.”
Fariha was able to tackle this challenging set of problems with confidence, earning herself a Qualification award. Taking part in the challenge has also provided her with valuable skills and experience, which puts her in a great position for next year’s challenge.
Congratulations to Fariha, and we wish her all the luck for next year’s competition!
