Six cadets from the ASA Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Contingent recently travelled to MOD St Athan in Wales for an unforgettable aviation experience.
Hosted by 1 Air Experience Flight (AEF), the visit gave cadets a unique opportunity to take part in powered flying in light aircraft. The programme is designed to introduce young people to the fundamentals of aviation, offering both hands-on learning and real flight experience.
During their time at St Athan, cadets were taught the basic principles of powered flight, including aircraft controls, navigation, and safety procedures. Under the guidance of experienced RAF pilots, each cadet had the chance not only to fly in the aircraft but also to take control of the controls themselves while airborne.
This exciting opportunity forms part of the wider RAF Air Cadet experience, aimed at inspiring confidence, leadership, and an interest in aviation and aerospace careers.
The cadets represented ASA with pride and enthusiasm throughout the visit, making the most of this incredible opportunity to learn and experience flight firsthand.
