Posted: 27th April 2016

The Little Shop of Horrors cast and crew have been working on the production since January 2016. Students and staff rehearsed three evenings a week after school. They also came in during the holidays and the weekend before the week of the show. Forty two students from Years 7-13 were involved in the production.

The musical is based on the low budget 1960 comedy film directed by Roger Corman. The musical premiered Off Broadway in 1982 and has since received numerous productions in the US and abroad. The musical was also made into a 1986 film of the same name, directed by Frank Oz.

Auditions were held to cast the lead roles, everyone without a lead role took on minor roles, chorus & backstage roles.

On Tuesday 19th April pupils from Swindon Village Primary, Springbank Primary Academy and Hester's Way Primary were invited to watch the day dress rehearsal which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Miss Kennedy from Springbank Primary Academy said 'I just wanted to say many thanks for our invite to see your production yesterday. The children came back to school buzzing after having a brilliant time. Well done to all of your performers, they were super!'

The two evening shows; Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st April were packed out, having a sell out show both nights!

The Year 9 Catering students provided refreshments both nights which included Little Shop themed cupcakes, popcorn and pastries.

The Thursday night show closed to a standing ovation from the crowd which was well deserved by the cast, crew, band and staff.
