PSHRE (Personal, Social, Health and Relationships Education)
Our Vision
At All Saints’ Academy, Cheltenham, we believe that PSHRE plays a vital role in supporting our students to become confident, healthy, responsible, and compassionate young people.
Through our PSHRE curriculum, we aim to equip every student with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to make informed decisions, build positive relationships, and lead fulfilling lives — both now and in the future.
Our Aims
Our PSHRE programme is designed to:
- Promote students’ personal development, wellbeing, and mental health.
- Support safe, respectful and inclusive relationships.
- Encourage responsible decision-making around physical and emotional health.
- Develop financial awareness, digital literacy, and readiness for life beyond school.
- Strengthen our academy’s Christian values and commitment to equality, kindness, and respect for all.
Curriculum Overview
PSHRE is taught across all key stages and complements our wider pastoral and enrichment programmes. It is structured around termly themes, ensuring students receive a broad and balanced education in personal development:
| Term | Theme |
| Term 1 | Health and Wellbeing |
| Term 2 | Relationships |
| Term 3 | Living in the Wider World |
| Term 4 | Health and Wellbeing |
| Term 5 | Relationships |
| Term 6 | Living in the Wider World |
- Key Stage 3: Focuses on identity, friendships, online safety, puberty, health and wellbeing, and celebrating diversity.
- Key Stage 4: Explores relationships, consent, mental health, substance awareness, financial education, and preparation for adulthood.
- Key Stage 5: Builds on prior learning with an emphasis on independence, future pathways, personal safety, and maintaining positive wellbeing.
The curriculum is regularly reviewed to reflect national guidance and the needs of our academy community.
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
RSE is an integral part of PSHRE and helps students develop understanding of healthy, respectful and safe relationships — both in person and online.
Our teaching is age-appropriate, inclusive and sensitive to the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of our students and families.
Parents and carers are fully informed about the RSE curriculum, and we welcome dialogue and feedback.

How PSHRE is Delivered
PSHRE is delivered through:
- Dedicated PSHRE tutor time aligned with termly themes
- Assemblies
- Specialist workshops and visiting speakers
- Whole-school events, such as Mental Health Awareness Week and Anti-Bullying Week
Learning is interactive, discussion-based, and encourages reflection and participation.
How We Know PSHRE is Making a Difference
We want every student at All Saints’ Academy to leave with the confidence, empathy, and resilience to thrive in modern society.
To make sure PSHRE is meaningful and effective, we regularly gather feedback and reflect on how students are growing personally and socially.
We do this through:
- Listening to student voice and feedback on lessons and topics
- Teacher observations and classroom engagement
- Participation in enrichment activities and themed events
- Student reflections and class work that show personal growth
This helps us ensure our PSHRE curriculum continues to meet the needs of our students and community.
