Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Success

Posted: 12th June 2025

Over the course of three challenging but rewarding days, 35 students from Year 9 and Year 10 took part in a recent Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the beautiful Winchcombe and surrounding Cotswold countryside.

Year 9 students tackled their Bronze Award, while Year 10 stepped up to complete their Silver expedition, navigating more demanding routes and covering longer distances. Both groups explored parts of the Winchcombe Way and Cotswold Way, gaining valuable skills in navigation, teamwork, resilience, and outdoor living.

Across the hills, fields, and trails, students pitched tents, cooked hot meals, read maps, and worked together with determination and care. Throughout the expedition, they consistently demonstrated our Academy values of Respect, Love, Reconciliation, Justice, and Peace —encouraging each other, making thoughtful decisions, and embracing the spirit of the award.

A huge well done to all involved for their effort, positivity, and growth over the three days—true ambassadors for our school community.
