Pi Day at ASA

Posted: 14th March 2025

Today, students embraced their love for numbers as we celebrated Pi Day! Every year on March 14th (3/14), mathematicians and enthusiasts worldwide honour the mathematical constant π (Pi), which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. With an infinite number of decimal places, Pi is a fascinating and essential concept in maths, making it the perfect excuse for some fun, hands-on learning activities.

To mark the occasion, Mr Eglin hosted an exciting Pi-themed quiz in the school foyer. Students were challenged with various puzzles and problems, all centred around the mysterious and infinite number. From memorising digits of Pi to solving tricky circle-related challenges, participants put their mathematical skills to the test. Of course, no competition is complete without prizes, and what better reward for a Pi-based challenge than a delicious Pi-themed biscuit?

Events like Pi Day provide a fantastic opportunity to make learning interactive and engaging. By incorporating fun activities into our curriculum, we inspire students to see maths as more than just numbers on a page—it’s a world of patterns, logic, and endless possibilities.

Thank you to Mr Eglin and everyone who joined in to make Pi Day a great success! We can’t wait to celebrate again next year—who knows how many more digits of Pi we’ll have memorised by then?
