NewsYoung Designers shine on the catwalk

Throughout this year, as part of a year-long annual project, students from All Saints’ collaborated with students from Winchcombe School to work together to design a show-stopping outfit that combined a traditional African flower and an iconic element of British heritage.

This year, the Cheltenham Education Partnership’s ‘Young Designers’ project has been facilitated by the Lives of Colour and aims to celebrate the beauty in unique identity and equality. The two-piece co-ord designed and created by Wiktoria, Weronika and Olga from All Saints’ and modelled by Lia from Winchcombe was inspired by Cool Britannia Brit Pop fashion and focuses on the pattern of the infamous Union Jack flag using non-linear lines for their corset design. Their chosen flower was the Bel Bean Tree from Mozambique as they liked its’ unique texture.

The showcase and fashion show was a rising success that really celebrated a sense of unity and togetherness between all partnership schools from across Cheltenham, with different students from different schools helping to prep each model ready for their catwalk. What was most impressive was that ASA sisters Wiktoria and Weronika were even asked to model two of the lives of colour’s original pieces to kick start the event and they radiated and took ownership of their runway.

An exceptionally proud day for All Saints’ Academy and Miss Baynham-Williams and Miss Morgan are so impressed with the student team this year.

All Saints’ Academy has been a place where I've been able to thrive in my academics and as a person as well. One thing that made me want to attend All Saints’ Sixth Form was the inclusivity and diversity of what makes the school shine.
